Masterfoods was founded by Henry Lewis in Australia. In the beginning, there was the Henry Lewis & Company which was initially involved in marketing specialty items only such as paprika, bay leaves and canned asparagus which were imported from overseas.

On 20 July 1945, Henry Lewis launched MasterFoods and began importing foods like mustards, smoked salmon, cheese, and anchovies, bringing new flavours to Australian tables. Furthermore, during the 1950’s, the company started manufacturing their own products and branded them as MasterFoods®.

By 1965 MasterFoodsTM has already been well-known and widely loved Australian brand. Then In 1967, the brand has been sold to another family business, thus, a transition took place from the Lewis family to the Mars family to continue the legacy, and Mars Food AustraliaTM has been born.

The business continued to expand and relocated to Berkeley Vale, Wyong Shire, on the Central Coast of New South Wales with its state-of-the-art facility officially opening in 1992. Since then, Mars Food have continued to grow their operations to be one of the largest employers on the Central Coast with more than 300 Associates working on site. Mars Food Australia products are manufactured at our site in Berkeley Vale, with many of our delicious, quality ingredients sourced from reputable Australian suppliers and local Australian farmers.

Mars Food today offers over 500 products in categories as diverse as mustards, marinades, relishes, sauces, herbs and spices, pasta and stir fry sauces and Promite spread.
