Houghton
Established in 1836, Houghton is one of Australia’s oldest and most celebrated wineries. With a rich history steeped in pioneer spirit, bandit folklore, and generations of winemaking expertise, Houghton’s story is as vibrant as the wines it produces. Founded by British Army officers in Western Australia’s Swan Valley, Houghton quickly became integral to the region’s winemaking landscape.
Houghton gained national recognition in 1937 when winemaker Jack Mann crafted the iconic Houghton White Burgundy, now known as White Classic, which remains one of Australia’s favourite white wines.
As Western Australia’s most-awarded winery, Houghton has claimed over 250 trophies and 4,800 medals in the past three decades. Sourcing grapes from premium regions across Western Australia, Houghton’s exceptional portfolio is enjoyed in over 80 countries worldwide.
